Room Divider Makeover With Hand Stenciling (Before and After)

Room Divider Before and After

Room Divider Before and After

room divider makeoverThis was one of my favourite makeovers and the most challenging because i had absolutely no idea what i wanted to do with it. And i’m glad i ended up with this result.

This room divider i have had for years ,as long as i can remember and now it was just in the basement because everyone had enough of it. I mean it used to look good back in the day but now it was chipping away and the black colour of the divider was adding  more darkness in the basement so it was time for a transformation.

I first started off by applying an emulsion based paint in the colour Mint Green. I applied two coats of it and then  let it dry for a day completely before starting the hand stencilling.

The next day i cut out a template from a cardboard piece which would serve as a stencil for my divider . I cut out a design which i thought would look good and first with a pencil i traced out the design on the whole of the divider. When that was done i took a thin paint brush and with a Gold oil based paint i went over the entire of the divider. Tracing it before makes it so much easier to paint on it later.

Almost Done

Almost Done

It took me a total of three hours but it was so worth it

It’s vibrant and a breath of fresh air in the room and adds that much needed pop of colour in the basement.

The final result.
