Lemon & Coconut Oil Moisturizer

Coconut Oil and Lemon two of my favourite things after Chocolate ofcourse . Coconut Oil has so many benefits that it makes me  sad that all those years of my life why did i not know of coconut oils existence Sigh. But knowing the multiple benefits of it now i use it in literally everything for instance as an eye make up remover, in making my home-made chocolate, for baking and today i will show you how i make my own mositurizer with coconut oil.

Lemons as  you know are  full of Vitamin C and my favourite part of it is how it helps in neutralizing the body’s pH balance.

So starting off i poured in 4 tbsp of coconut oil in a medium size bowl. Depending on the temperature where you live if its hot and the oil is in a liquid state put it in the freezer until it solidifies then take it out. The moisturizer will be made when the coconut oil is in its solid state.

After that squeeze in the lemons i added in juice of 2 lemons.

At this point you guys can add anything you want like in the past i have added vitamin E oil, lavender oil, vanilla extract etc. You can add any essence but  i wanted to make a lemon version today so that’s what i went with 🙂

Moving on to the part where the magic happens.

With an electric hand mixer just whisk away the coconut oil and it will turn into a creamy, fluffy texture literally within minutes. When it becomes light and airy that’s when your moisturiser is all done.

This is the quickest way to make an all natural home-made moisturiser . Better then the store bought ones which are  loaded with unknown chemicals and preservatives.

So there you go how simple was that. Also  I had a lemon shaped container lying around i know i know the irony ;), so i added the mixture into the container. It can be stored in the fridge if the climate is hot or if where you live is a bit cooler it will be perfectly fine outside. It will stay good for several months as coconut oil has anti bacterial qualities and with the added lemon juice i wouldn’t be worried of it getting bad for several months.

  1. Shawna depending on the temperature where you live it will vary. Where i live its pretty cool right now so it retains its whipped, light texture but as the climate will get more humid or hot will have to refrigerate it. And it can stay good for several months.Coconut oil has anti-bacterial qualities and combined with lemon i doubt you need to worry about it going bad. Have fun and definitely make it . Do tell me how it turns out 🙂

  2. Hi! I just made a batch and have some problems. First off, the lemon juice refuses to mix with the coconut oil. A tiny bit did, but most of it just kept separating. Second, it grew mold after only a week in a clean container!

Followed your recipe to a t. What am I doing wrong? 😦

  3. Hmm did you use coconut oil when it was in its solid state ? And did you whip it for a good 5 to 6 mins? This hasn’t happened to me so i really cant pinpoint what went wrong. Also how old is the coconut oil that you used for this moisturiser ?

  5. Thanks for the recipe and answering my question as to why my first batch failed. It has been warm and my oil was in a liquid state. I can not wait to try this recipe. I have been using homemade soap with lemon and love it. I recently made my own lemon and witch hazel toner. After two weeks of using it I have noticed a considerable difference in my face. I can’t wait to follow it up some lemon moisturizer.
